By re-examining the practices that redraw the world, Callas sought to highlight the ways in which colonial and post-colonial realities are constructed. Callas integrated these icons into his work in a tangential manner, reflecting the intuitive relationship between history and memory. The motto 'Plus Ultra' ('Ever Onward,' the slogan of the Spanish conquistadors) served as the title for this section, which focused on the period prior to the 1494 Papal Line of Demarcation.

In his description of Lost in Translation (Part 1: Plus Ultra), Callas noted that the project 'attempts to syncretically avow the 'borders of identity' in an anti-historical reconstruction of 'Brazil.''
